Golden sandy beaches

Although the city has grown over the past twenty years—it now stretches along six kilometers of golden sandy beaches—it has been spared the high-rise buildings that plague so many other destinations due to strict planning restrictions.

The main street, Avenida de las Playas, stretches eight kilometers along the coast, with beautiful, clean sandy beaches on one side and a host of restaurants, bars, and shops on the other. The island's largest beach, Playa Grande, is located along this stretch of coast. All the beaches along this stretch have been awarded the EU Blue Flag for cleanliness and offer all the usual facilities, such as sun loungers, umbrellas, and restrooms.
